Users can compare this with the main photo within the Photos app. Apple also plans to add support for SynthID later in 2026, with image metadata providing an additional method for identifying AI-generated or edited content.
Variable aperture enhances camera flexibility
Powered by the 2-nanometer A20 Pro, the chip combines a six-core CPU with a seven-core GPU, which Apple claims is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro. It also features a Dual 16-core Neural Engine totaling 32 cores. A redesigned thermal system connects the processor more efficiently to a larger vapor chamber, which has three times the surface area of the previous generation. Apple states this setup improves sustained performance during intensive tasks.
Battery life has been extended on both models, especially on eSIM-only versions. The iPhone 18 Pro supports up to 36 hours of video playback, while the Pro Max reaches 45 hours under similar conditions. Wired accessories can charge the Pro to 50% in about 15 minutes. The eSIM-only models replace the physical SIM tray and will be released in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
Siri AI debuts with iOS 27
Running on iOS 27, the iPhone 18 Pro series supports the latest Apple AI features. Siri AI enters beta on September 14 for supported devices configured in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support arriving in October. Siri AI can leverage personal context from messages, emails, and photos when responding to requests and can also interpret information displayed on the screen. Cloud-based tasks utilize Private Cloud Compute, while other functionalities operate locally on the device.
The starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro in the United States is $1,199, and $1,299 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Users can select storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB.
